Gambling is illegal throughout the United Arab Emirates. This is a result of their adherence to Muslim law, which prohibits activities such as gambling and the consumption of alcohol.

United Arab Emirates Information
The United Arab Emirates are comprised of seven states in Southwest Asia on the Arabian peninsula.
The states, also known as emirates, are: Ajman, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm al-Quwain. The most populated city in the UAE is Dubai, with an estimated 1.6 million residents. Other major cities include: Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Fujairah.
Eighty-five percent of the population is estimated to be non-citizens (Indians, Europeans, Africans, Pakistanis, Filipinos, etc.). However, when a person reaches the age of retirement, they must leave the UAE and return to their country of birth.
Almost all citizens are Muslim, with 85 percent being Sunni and the remainder being Shi’a. Other religions in the UAE include: Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, Parsi, Baha’i and Sikh.
Natural gas and petroleum play an important role in the economy of the United Arab Emirates. In recent years, the region has seen a $350 billion dollar construction boom.

Sports are an integral part of life in the UAE. Camel and horse racing are both popular, as are football and cricket. While it lacks the mainstream popularity, falconry is another considered a traditional sport.
