Gambling in The Philippines

Filipino Betting Information

By Reno Rollins

Because of centuries of colonialism, The Philippines are influenced by the Spanish and American legal systems to which the islands were subjected. Brick-and-mortar casinos and poker are popular among Filipinos, while horse racing is just beginning to catch on. The Philippines currently follow the trends in the Far East, where gambling laws are becoming less restrictive.

Gambling in the Philippines

While gambling is popular throughout the country, most legal gambling is confined to the casinos scattered about the nation. To play at one of these facilities, you’ll need to be at least 21 years of age.

Horse racing is also legal, but only one major thoroughbred track exists in the country. Gamblers may also place wagers on horse racing and cockfighting online, as well as the national sport of basketball.

Poker is growing in popularity, and almost all casinos offer various versions of the game. More private games may be found throughout the country in bars and private residences.
