Gambling is legal in Kenya. This applies to slot machines, casino gambling and scratch-off lottery tickets. The status of other games of chance is unknown.

There are currently 13 legal casinos operating in Kenya. They are:

- Casino Malindi (Lamu Road, Malindi, Coast, Kenya) Slots are available from 9am until 4am, and table games are open from noon until 4am. Located in Eastern Africa, Kenya is bordered by Ethiopia, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda and the Sudan. The country is named after the landmark known as Mount Kenya. Prior to 1920, the country was known as the British East Africa Protectorate.

The country’s main natural resources include wildlife and land. Major agricultural products include: coffee, tea, sugarcane, corn, rice, wheat, sisal, pineapples, meat, hides, skins, dairy products and pyrethrum. Industrial products include: cement, beer, soft drinks, textiles, grain and sugar milling, petroleum products, tourism and paper manufacturing.

Major imports for Kenya include: iron and steel, resins and plastic materials, refined petroleum products, pharmaceuticals, paper and paper products, wheat, fertilizers, machinery, vehicles and crude petroleum. Around $3.2 billion in exports are brought into Kenya each year.

The largest ethnic group in Kenya is the Kikuyu (23%). Other ethnic groups present in the country include: Luhya, Luo, Kalenjin, Kamba, Kisii, Meru, Maasai, Turkana, Embu, Somali, Taita, Swahili, Samburu, Pokomo, Giriama, Rabai, Duruma, Chonyi, Digo, Kauma, Orma, Oromo Wasanye, Wanyoyaya, Borana, Rendille, El Moran, Malakote, Teso, Gabra, Ndorobo, Asian, Anglo-African/European and Arab.

Forty-five percent of the population follows the beliefs of the Protestant/Quaker denomination. Other religions in Kenya include: Roman Catholic, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, Jainism and Baha’i. Kenya has the largest population of Quakers in the world.

Sports are an important part of life in Kenya, and they are particularly adept at long-distance events. Other popular sports include football, rugby union, boxing, cricket and rallying. Cricket is the most popular team sport in Kenya, and they have competed in the Cricket World Cup since 1996.
