The first drawing of the Belgium lottery was held on October 18th, 1934. In 2002, the National Lottery Act was modified to create a monopoly on online lotteries.

Today, there are a number of options to choose from when playing the Belgium lottery. These include:

- Lotto

The single form is made up of a 12 number grid with 6 boxes which can be checked on each grid. To play, you must compete a set of two grids superimposed on each other.

The multiple form requires you to complete one grid with 8 to 14 numbers.

In the multiplus version, you select 7 to 10 numbers per grid. You must fill out two superimposed grids.

In the final version, you select a number of crosses per grid ranging from 6 to 10. The player marks his or her numbers, how many grids he wishes to play and the number of draws he wishes to take part in. Besides the numbers selected by the player, the computer also completes the form with a number of randomly selected digits.

- Joker

A Lotto game with drawings held on Wednesdays at 7pm and Saturdays at 6:45pm. The object is to match the seven-figure number on your ticket with seven numbers drawn at random. Getting all seven numbers pays out 1 million EUR.

- Euro Million

The Euro Millions lottery is linked across the European continent. The jackpots are massive (a recent jackpot was 26 million Euros).

- Keno

Players select a group of numbers and win based on the amount of matches. Drawings are held Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 8pm, Wednesdays at 7:45pm and Saturdays at 6pm.

Facts About Belgium

Located in Europe, Belgium is bordered by Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and France. It is a founding member of the European Union, and its headquarters are based there. The country has a population of about 10.5 million people.

Historically, Belgium was considered one of the Low Countries, along with the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Belgium was separated from the Netherlands in the 1648 Treaty of Westphalia. After that time, Belgium fought to gain independence from the predominate French state, and frequently found itself under French influence.

Due to the importance of Belgium in the French-Habsburg rivalry and its proximity to the English coastline, Belgium became known as Europe's battlefield. Belgium moved to full independence only after France's defeat in the Napoleonic Wars. It became a small but successful industrial nation in the 19th century, though Belgium was twice invaded by Germany, once in each of the world wars.
