Gambling is available in Belarus, primarily in the form of casinos. National and local lotteries are also allowed, but online gambling companies are prohibited from offering their services to citizens.
While gambling opportunities may be somewhat limited outside of Minsk, the country has only been an independent state since 1991, so there may be many changes coming in the future.
Facts About Belarus
Belarus is bordered by Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. The capital of the country is Minsk, and other notable cities include Grodno, Brest, Gomel, Mogilev, Bobruisk and Vitebsk.
Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, Belarus became an independent state on August 25th, 1991. Since 1996, Belarus and Russia have been in negotiations to form a single state called the Union of Russia and Belarus.
The country’s population is 9.85 million, with most being made up of native Belarusians. There are also Russians, Ukrainians and Poles. The official languages of the country are Belarusian and Russian.
The country is divided into six provinces, and each is named after the city which serves as its economic center. These are Brest, Homvel, Hrodna, Mahilvow, Minsk and Vitsebsk.
The currency of the country is the Belarusian ruble.
Gambling in Belarus
In January of 2005, the President issued a decree over the gambling industry within Belarus. Not only would gambling-oriented businesses be subject to tighter tax regulations, but gamblers would be required to produce some form of identification in order to claim their winnings. This last measure was designed to help the country combat money laundering.
All gambling activity in the country is licensed by the Ministry of Sport and Tourism. You must be 18 years or older to play in the country’s casinos.
Casinos in Belarus
There are 25 legal casinos in Belarus. While most have a wide selection of slot machines, the number of table games is smaller than what might be found in some countries.
The largest concentration of casinos is in Minsk, and the biggest casino as of this writing is Juravinca Princess Casino.

Casino Palace - Club Zio Pepe (4 Shevchenko Boulevard, Brest, Brestskaya voblasts’, Belarus) This casino is open 24 hours and features seven gaming machines and four poker and table games (including blackjack and roulette). A bar and restaurant are also located on the premises.
Nemo Club (2 Naberejnaya Street, Gomel, Belarus) Open daily from 8pm until 5am, this casino has five poker and table games. Their website is www.nemo.proximalogic.com.
Casino 777 (8 South Batorii Street, Grodno, Belarus) This casino is open Monday thru Friday from 10am until 6am and Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 5am. Twelve gaming tables are located on the premises, as well as billiard tables and a bar.
Club Mavva (32 Socialisticheskaya Street, Grodno, Belarus) Open from 8pm until 6am, this casino offers 5 gaming machines and four poker and table games (Poker, Blackjack and American Roulette). A bar is also located on the premises.
Casino Admiral 1 (39 Poushkin Avenue, Minsk, Belarus) Open 24 hours a day, this casino has eight gaming machines and eight table and poker games (Blackjack, Poker and Roulette).
Casino Admiral 2 (Minsk, Belarus) Open 24 hours a day, this casino has nine slot machines, plus blackjack, roulette and poker.
Casino Emir (Minsk, Belarus) Open 24 hours a day, this casino has 17 slots and 11 table and poker games (poker, roulette and blackjack). A restaurant, three bars and a hotel are also located on the premises.

Lottery in Belarus
Both national and local lotteries are available in Belarus. In fact, in December of 2007, the President signed a decree which expanded the list of organizations eligible to sell lottery tickets. If you travel to Belarus, you should have no trouble finding a lottery vendor.
