Fast becoming one of the top online gambling regulators in the European jurisdiction is the Alderney Gambling Control Commission. Announcing the licensing of yet another top-shelf operator, Alderney Gambling Control Commission has undoubtedly earned some bragging rights amongst the likes of the UK Gambling Commission, Gibraltar and Isle of Man.
Recently turning to Alderney for licensing credentials is none other than EuroSport. Well known with many European sports bettors, EuroSport announced it will be launching a new website as part of a joint venture with Serendipity Investment SAS of France, which was recently given clearance by the European Commission according to EU merger regulations.
Also based in France, EuroSport is best known for their TV sports channels and sporting news website portals. In fact, Eurosport operates 10 online portals in nine languages and manages ten offices throughout Europe and Asia. The first broadcaster to form a multi-media partnership with one of the top online companies (Yahoo!) in business today, EuroSport has undoubtedly become the Number One online destination for sports entertainment and news.
In addition to over 60,000 news stories and 50,000 videos published every year, Eurosport and Yahoo! host several fantasy sports leagues, including Fantasy Football and Fantasy Snooker. That's were they make a good chunk of their money from - and that's precisely why Yahoo! has been labeled as a hypocrite after their protestation of regulating online gambling in the U.S. What's most interesting is the fact that Yahoo! and EuroSport are giving away free green cards to the U.S. on their website (but that's another story altogether).
Of course, the Alderney Gambling Control Commission couldn't be happier about all this. Robin Le Prevost, who is the head of Alderney's e-Commerce Development, said the Commission is "absolutely thrilled" to add Eurosport to a growing number of high profile clients. And while one could speculate about Alderney's close proximity to France in being a reason for Eurosport to turn to Alderney in the first place, the fact of the matter is that the Alderney Gambling Control Commission is undoubtedly qualified and ready for the task at hand.
