Inquires About Online Gambling

Depending on where your stance is regarding the activity of gambling as a
whole, you are likely to give one of two completely different responses when
asked just how effective the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA)
has been since being passed into law. Still in its early implementation stages,
the UIGEA has no doubt faced a tough road amidst a myriad of difficulties in
implementing a law, which on many accounts, is akin to the alcohol prohibition
in the early twentieth century century.
While the UIGEA seems to be heading nowhere fast, several pieces of
legislation are already floating about the House Financial Services Committee,
that seek to undo the UIGEA. There are is also strong resistance coming from the
court of the American Banking Association and international organizations pretty
much saying the same thing - the UIGEA is a vague law full of contradictions and
protectionist legislature that is nigh impossible to implement and enforce.
To give credit to the intent of the legislature, it has become harder for
U.S. citizens to gamble online these days. Oh, and did I mention less safe as
well? Several leading online casino software developers, their licensees and
online gambling eWallets have dropped out of the market, including payment
wallet, Neteller, and online casino software developers,
Playtech and
Cryptologic.
Getting wind of the resistance has been several top U.S. news conglomerates,
including CNBC. The only thing is, even the people writing the news have their
own opinion on the matter, including myself! In a recent article penned by
Darren Rovell, who says the government is coming close to halting online
gambling activities altogether by crippling payment processing operations. The
only catch is that Mr. Rovell doesn't have the insider perspective that a
well-connected news reporter just can't get. According to online casino
affiliates and the players themselves, U.S. players are finding ways to gamble
online.
