If you love to play poker (and are good at it) and have always wanted to visit Asia, well then, have I got a poker tournament for you. The Asian Poker Tour will kick off in less than two months, and according to the schedule, it looks like some beautiful places in Asia will be the local for several pit stops.
The first tournament to kick things off will take place from May 27 to June 1 in the tropical Philippines. This will be followed by events in Asia's gambling empire, Macau, the alluring South Korea and exotic Singapore to cap things off for the tour. As for dates and host casinos, these will be announced very soon according to the tour's organizers.
No matter where the games will take place, one thing is certain: Each tournament will guarantee a $1 million prize pool. The action will be intense, and you can bet many of the world's top pros will be in on it.
According to the Asian Poker Tour's sponsor and organizer, AsianLogic, poker is booming in Asia, and has the potential for some very prestigious tournaments. In fact, AsianLogic is confident they will be able to up this year's four scheduled tournaments to a total of six tournaments in 2009. They will also be helping the Asian Poker Tour build an online poker room, much like the World Series of Poker has their own site.
AsianLogic is already organizing online satellite tournaments and will be doing the same on the ground when the real tables begin. For all those players who don't make the cut playing online tournaments, buy-ins to each tournament can be had for $2,500.
