CASINO NEWS
News of the Month...
Earlier this year in January, the Kahnawake Gaming
Commission released the results of Absolute Poker's
audit in regards to the cheating scandal that went down
there. And while the audit did indeed reveal some
interesting findings, including when the cheating first
started and what screen names were being used under
super-user accounts, many questions remain. For one, who
were the individual culprits responsible for the
security breaches? Secondly, how was Absolute Poker able
to delete data that affected the audit by
Australia-based Gaming Associates? Many questions
remain, which is why I am personally glad to hear the
CBS news show 60 Minutes is going to be doing a story on
the incident. Although shooting has yet to take place
and an air time has not been announced, it looks like
the story has already been given the green light. Steve
Croft is apparently heading the investigation and will
be interviewing one of the players who first got wind
that cheating was taking place. There is also a rumor
that a film crew will be heading to Costa Rica, which is
where Absolute Poker's headquarters are. Nobody is sure
what the scope of the investigation is, whether it will
cover this story or online gambling as a whole, and
whether it will look favorably for the advocacy of
online gambling regulation or label online poker as
unsafe. I just hope they dig up more on the cheating
scandal. Knowing the outstanding reputation of 60
Minutes' I think it will be a balanced investigation
that will speak for itself.
