WagerWorks to Merge with Million-2-1 Under IGT

13 November 2010 by admin

IGT is the owner of both WagerWorks and Million-2-1, but both serve separate purposes in the greater scope that is IGT. WagerWorks is one of the better known software developers of online slots games. Million-2-1, whose name is not out in the limelight like WagerWorks and IGT, is a developer of mobile casino applications.

So what happens when you put a developer of online slots games in a mixing bowl with a developer of mobile casino applications and stir?

What you get is an entity that is capable of bringing the stunning online slots games of WagerWorks to a mobile audience through the application development of a company like Million-2-1. At least that is what it sounds like IGT is trying to do:

Gideon Bierer, Vice President of IGT, Said, “In the last five years in the United Kingdom alone, we (IGT) alone have handled more than $10 billion in online wagers and are currently processing more than 1.5 billion online transactions each year. As technology advances and markets evolve, we look forward to accelerating our product innovation and significantly growing our interactive business.”

Which has my mind thinking that by combining the two entities, IGT is hoping to bring the quality of WagerWorks’ online slots games to the audiences found in Million-2-1’s client base. In my opinion, I think it just might work, and it just might give IGT in the realm of mobile entertainment. Thanks to smartphones and iPhones, people can take their online gambling with them, but why bother with a flash version of an online casino when you can play your favorite online slots games on you mobile device through an application?

It actually makes sense to me. And it makes sense to IGT:

Bierer further commented, “Merging our online and mobile business units under the IGT brand will solidify our position as a leader in interactive gaming.”

Now all that remains is to watch how the merger goes over the next several months and hope that the quality found in WagerWorks’ online slots games will not be compromised. Who knows this might just be the beginning of an IGT brand of online slots games as well if both entities are going to under the IGT brand as Bierer said.
