Vegas Technology Releases Wataa Slot

21 January 2011 by admin

Vegas Technology has released a new slot with a karate theme (whenever I see that word I think of the annoying way Ross from Friends pronounced it). The game features cartoon characters of bad ninjas and karate experts who oppose them. I guess I should be concerned about writing about this slot, though. Reporting on a new game with such a violent theme – and one that makes light of violence, no less – could lead to an outbreak of karate-related violence. If someone goes out and commits murder with a throwing star or nunchuks, it would be my fault for instigating it with information on this violent game.

I’m kidding, of course. Any sane and objective person can easily see that so-called violent imagery, rhetoric or descriptions doesn’t lead to violence. We will probably never know the motives of the villains of this game, the evil ninjas, but it probably has more to do with their personality and upbringing than with what video games they played. Actually, I’m not even sure if ninjas play video games. It’s not something you’d imagine them doing, though video games are popular in Japan.

Wataa1Anyway, the online slot is called “Wataa!!!” The title comes, I assume, from a ninja battle cry rather than the Windsor Area Taiwanese American Association. The main characters in the game are Trevor and Charlie, who are good karate students or teachers or something. Actually, I’m not sure, but they wear a karategi, which is that white karate uniform you are used to seeing. Trevor is a human who is bald and a little on the chunky side. Perhaps he’s overweight because he performs his karate moves while eating a bag of chips (yes, it’s true). Charlie is some sort of a cat, who lets out a feline growl while karate kicking his enemies.

Other symbols in the slot include ninjas, a practice dummy in the dojo, nunchuks, a book (probably a martial arts book that Trevor should be studying instead of munching on snacks) and a large burger. Yes, there is a hamburger, which doesn’t have anything to do with martial arts, except that eating too many of them can hinder your ability to defend yourself from ninjas. So if you’re worried about a ninja attack, cut back on the burgers. Some burgers are fine, but don’t overdo it.

The online slot offers up to 25 paylines to play and you can wager up to $10 per line. The game has a 5,000-coin jackpot, which can be worth up to $50,000. The hamburger is the scatter symbol and when it ends up on the reels, the scatter payouts are triggered, in addition to the free-spin bonus round, where you get 15 free spins with which to play.

During the free spins, players can play with either Trevor or Charlie. Trevor is the wild symbol and when you use him in the free spins, extra Trevor symbols are put on reel three. All wins that include the Trevor symbol are increased using a random multiplier of 5x, 8x or 10x. If you choose to play with Charlie instead, you spin the reels and for every Charlie symbol that appears anywhere on the reels, you win up to three additional free spins.

Trevor and Charlie may not be shining examples of great karate fighters. In fact, I’m not too confident in Trevor’s abilities at all, but the game is a fun break from reality if you’re into cartoon and ninja action. If you’re in the mood for that kind of game, check out Wataa!!!
