Scientific Games Buys WMS in $1.5 Billion Deal

Sunday, February 17th, 2013

scientific games_wms gamingIn the online leisure gaming industry, we haven’t seen a move this expensive in two years. Well, maybe not as expensive as it is smart, that is.

As reported by SF Gate (Source: Bloomberg), Scientific Games Corp. (SGC) is purchasing WMS Industries Inc. for a reported $1.5 billion. This huge move is targeted at creating a new worldwide supplier of lottery equipment and casino slot machines. The transaction was approved by both boards collectively without any disagreement. Yep, it’s pretty much a no-brainer.

For those of you online casino news fans that enjoy keeping up with the business end of online gambling and or leisure gaming, you may know that Scientific Games, is 38% owned by well-known billionaire Ron Perelman, who is much better at running companies than saving his marriages (sorry, that was called for). SCG, a New York-based provider of lottery systems and scratch cards has entered into the deal to share production, software and customer services with WMS in order to conserve funds.

The deal creates a noteworthy new realm of opportunity between the two leisure gaming types, and poses a major opportunity for increased revenue by the sharing of each company’s resources and products for yet further development into the online scene and new technology that is literally bursting at the seams. These two companies do indeed have much to offer each other: WMS with its online gambling connections and SCG with its lottery-style based offerings.

Based in Waukegan, Illinois, WMS has been in the online gaming industry for years and has developed cutting-edge slots for mobile use too. In fact, WMS just launched 100 new casino slot games at a Vegas trade show recently.

Speaking of slots, the slot machine industry is, itself, recovering from the global economic slump that saw casinos shying away from adding and buying new machines after gambling took a turn toward table games and poker – Games with mostly better odds, that is. WMS, needless to say, is charging on by developing slot games with intense entertainment value and advanced bonuses. Evolution is definitely taking place with slots these days.

The new deal is expected to be finished and completely in place by the end of 2013, thus giving both companies time to integrate properly. The goal in this period of time is to save about $90 million. That’s what we in the online gambling business call pooling your bankroll!

Both companies have released positive statements surrounding the merger. It seems the attitude is not that one bought the other out, but rather, more about sharing resources to move forward in a massive, explosive industry to create the types of innovations we online gamers expect to see, play and have easy access to – whether online, on our mobiles, or elsewhere.

There has been quite the flourish of buyouts mergers and high competition within the online casino industry and social gaming industry due to laws passing in favor of the real money gaming option, not to mention the new technology surrounding mobile casino technology, which WMS has been in on steadily from the get-go.

Here’s some cool info for our readers about WMS. This online slots giant leads the way when it comes to advancing slot game technology and releasing new exciting online casino games (now mobile), and has a strong seat planted within the social gaming environment.

WMS itself is a highly visible company and boasts a vast social vibe with a business Facebook page, WMS Gaming, as well as the extremely popular Jackpot Party Casino page at Facebook.  This is the company’s absolute social hub for all things WMS slots offer online casino players and much more.

Must Trigger Casino Jackpots on RTG Slot

Friday, December 7th, 2012

Spirt of Inca Slot MachineOCS approved Slotastic Casino has announced the launch of a new slot machine, courtesy of Real Time Gaming Software. Called Spirit of the Inca, this is the first RTG video slot with a new “Boiling Point” jackpot feature that reveals the sizes of four different progressive jackpots in real time.

Offering players even more reason to give Spirit of the Inca a spin in real money mode, Slotastic is now offering a promotional free cash bonus worth 100% up to $300 Free through Sunday, December 16, 2012. Just use the code SPIRITOFINCA when making a real money deposit through the casino cashier, and you’ll have twice the opportunity to win one of four networked jackpots.

Thanks to a wide area progressive jackpot system that pools wagers together from players around the world, Spirit of the Inca can return some hefty payouts. The largest of the four jackpots – The Grand – has a default value of $280,000. The three other jackpots – The Major, Minor and Mini – also payout considerably well, and depending on wagering preferences and bankroll size, make for a wide range of winning opportunities.

But what makes these jackpots especially lucrative, not to mention innovative, is the aforementioned “Boiling Point” feature. The boiling point, as it were, is essentially a set amount assigned to each jackpot that requires it to be triggered before reaching the set value. Coupled by a meter that shows just how close the jackpot is to being triggered, helps add another dimension of anticipation and strategy.

Additional noteworthy features of Spirit of the Inca include an expanding wild (the Priestess) that can trigger up to 75 free spins with a 10x multiplier. When the Incan Spirit lands on the first and fifth reel, fifteen bonus symbols will appear, prompting the player to choose symbols containing up to 25 free spins and 10x multipliers, as well as an entire wild reel or an extra wild on each reel during free spins.

As you can tell, Spirit of the Inca certainly has a lot to offer in terms of both winnings and entertainment. And Slotastic Casino wants you to see for yourself. Even if the exclusive casino bonus mentioned above is no longer available, Slotastic has several ongoing promotions available, including their $100 Midweek Madness Bonus, $100 Slot of the Week, $100 Progressive Slot of the Month and $200 Monthly Paycheck. New players can claim a welcome bonus worth 150% up to $300 Free Here.

Play Slots at Winning Online Casinos

Tuesday, November 13th, 2012

Charlie Sheen Poker WinningO.K. we probably all know by now that Charlie Sheen is winning. And if that’s the case, by God, why aren’t you and I winning too? Oh ya, that’s right. Probably because we’ve been playing too many slots and the online casinos are doing more of the winning.

Just about everybody likes to play slot machines. The problem for some folks is that it’s never fun to lose. And since losing happens more often than winning on the slots, this poses a problem for casino operators, who would prefer you play slot machines more than any other game. Well, maybe not any other game (cough, cough, sneeze, Keeeeeeno), but certainly more than the vast majority of games available through the online casino lobby.

The solution that slot manufacturers continue to come up with is to make the slots increasingly entertaining, so as to lessen the hurt that comes with losing a lot of money. Not that you should ever let yourself lose more than you can afford, however, most of us can probably agree that it’s no fun to lose an entire bankroll on the reels.

Just how much lack of fun you’re having comes down to how entertaining the game is to begin with. Now with 3D slots recreating storylines and animations that could have come straight off the movie screen, you’d have to be losing pretty badly to not have fun playing these games. In fact, let that be your red flag. The moment you were to ever stop having fun playing 3D slots, cease from putting another dime in the machine, take a break – indefinite or not.

So, with all this talk about losing at the slot machines, is it even possible to find slots winning at online casinos? The short answer is yes. On the internet, it’s especially easier to find what you might call a loose slot machine. At land-based casinos, you are either going to play at a particular casino because it’s at the hotel where you’re staying (ahhh, Las Vegas), or it’s simply the only one within driving distance (ahh, Foxwoods), and not because of the payout percentage on the slot machines. In fact, you’ll probably never even know, let alone bother asking what the payout is, because you’re going to play regardless (You probably don’t want to know how low it is anyhow!).

On the World Wide Web, it’s a different matter entirely. With so much competition and so many online casinos available at the click of a mouse and the tweak of a search term, not to mention the lack of overhead that comes with running an online casino (as opposed to it’s land-based counterpart), you will consistently find more slots winning at online casinos than in Las Vegas. On average, slots payouts come in in the mid-nineties percentile. The best online casinos consistently return payouts above 96%.

So, if you are serious about winning at slots, you’ll need to go about finding the slots that are winning at online casinos. It’s a pretty simple equation. While you shouldn’t rely on payout percentages alone when choosing an online casino to play at, by keeping a record of the audited payouts, you will be able to choose an environment more conducive to producing winners. Furthermore, just be verifying a casino is receiving payout audits, you are ruling out the possibility of a software platform fixed with unfair odds. Send an email to the online casino GM or customer service if payout reports are not already posted through the casino’s website. And if they can’t or won’t provide them (reports that is – not just numbers in an email), needless to say, you shouldn’t play there.

Just remember that nothing can guarantee you will walk away a winner at the slot machines. That’s why it’s gambling. But with smart betting habits, conservative bankroll management and a little luck (which happens all the time, mind you), you will have more fun playing slots and winning at online casinos.

Microgaming’s Most Anticipated Online Casino Slot Machine to be Released Next Week

Thursday, August 12th, 2010
Lord of the Rings Online Casino Slots

Err, and you thought Lord of the Rings was a just a pretentious jewelry store?

It’s been a long time coming, and by God, I hope it’s worth the wait. All things considered, it should be. What I am referring to is very likely the most anticipated online casino game release in the short but loaded history of online gambling. There have been some great online slot machines to come out over the years, many of which were branded off of movies, comic book characters, even board games. And while the game I am referring to (hold onto your britches, I’ll tell you what it is in just a second!) is also based off a movie, this isn’t just any movie, my friends.

This is one of the most popular, award-winning film trilogies of all time, not to mention published novels. J.R.R. Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings” is no doubt a title you’ve heard before, let alone one you’ve likely watched and enjoyed on the movie screen or in your home. And now, thanks to the folks at Microgaming Software, you will be able to play an online casino slot themed around Tolkien’s fantasy world – that is, of course, unless you reside in the U.S. (where Microgaming has closed its doors). Hey, I’m just saying. If it pisses you off enough, write your local Congressional representatives and voice your support for the Internet Gambling Regulation Enforcement and Consumer Protection Act.

Anyways, for just about everybody else out there, the first slot in the trilogy, “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring”, will be available at the top Microgaming online casinos sometime next week. With no exact date set just yet, one can only assume it’s all about stirring up more anticipation and generating curious onlooker traffic to Microgaming’s most favored online casinos all set to integrate the Lord of the Rings slot with their current portfolio of 300+ casino games.

That said, if you want our advice, we highly recommend Platinum Play, River Nile, All Slots, All Jackpots and Jackpot City Casino. These eCOGRA approved online casinos have been around for several years, and have earned an outstanding track record with players. Furthermore, they have some great welcome bonus and ongoing deposit bonus offers available, including Platinum Play’s $1,500 Free Play Bonus. Play with $1,500 in free credits over a 24-hour timeframe and keep up to $100 Free in bonus money with a $20 deposit. Alternatively, claim a 100% Match Bonus up to $200 Free – even after claiming the free-play bonus.

Now, before I get sidetracked again, let me finish up by saying that Microgaming is also in the works to develop the second and third addition to the Lord of the Rings trilogy: “The Two Towers” and “The Return of the King”, based on a 2009 licensing agreement with Warner Brothers Digital Distribution. All three casino slots will feature actual footage from the films, including the attack at Weathertop, the Mines of Moria and the woods of Middle Earth from “The Fellowship of the Ring”. Based on early reviews from affiliates and online casino operators, the new Lord of the Rings slot machine takes online slot play and entertainment to a new level. Microgaming has certainly taken their time developing the new game, which apparently, has paid off.

41st Annual Comic-Con International to Draw Light on Marvel Online Casino Slots

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

InterCasinoMarvelSlotsWith the 41st Annual San Diego Comic-Con International taking place this month, it seems fitting to give a nod to super heroes. More specifically, for the sake of this blog, it seems fitting to give a nod to the original Marvel super hero slots by Cryptologic Software.

Of course, now there is Marvel slots by Playtech – and Cryptologic has even expanded it’s own repertoire to include DC comic book characters – but for now, let’s keep our sites focused on Cryptologic’s contribution to the world of online gambling super heroes. I mean, after all, Cryptologic’s Marvel Slots have become the most successfully branded online slots to date.

Currently, there are seventeen different Marvel comics branded in Cryptologic’s Marvel Slots series, with some superhero’s even getting multiple versions. Hulk, for example, has two titles under his belt: “The Incredible Hulk” and “Hulk – The Ultimate Revenge”. Think of it as just as another comic in the series, or in the case of online casino gambling, more ways to wager.

The indomitable Spider Man also has two titles: “Spiderman” and “Spiderman Revelations”. Again, it’s pretty much the same theme and playing structure but with different ways to wins, bonus rounds, and of course, a slightly different story line told by Cryptologic’s impressive animation graphics.

Other titles in the Marvel Slots series include, “Captain America”, “Blade”, “Ghost Rider”, “Iron Man”, “Silver Surfer”, “Daredevil”, “The Punisher”, “The Sub-Mariner”, “X-Men”, “Electra”, “Fantastic Four”, “Thor” and for when you just can’t get enough Wolverine from the X-Men slot, there is a game dedicated to the razor bandit himself, fittingly titled, “Wolverine”.

Besides the entertainment value itself, another reason why Marvel online casino slots are so popular with players is the fact that they offer random jackpots and are interconnected with their own wide area progressive jackpot of sorts. To win one of three random jackpots, one needs to only be playing. No winning symbol combination is required, and the size of the jackpot depends on the size of the wager.

For more details and information on playing rules and jackpot awards, be on the lookout for a new blog series reviewing each and every one of  Cryptologic’s Marvel Superhero slots.

In the meantime, OCS recommends giving longtime UK favorite online casino, Inter Casino, a visit and opening a free account. Inter Casino allows players to wager in “fun mode”, offering unlimited practice credits to try out all of their online casino games, including their full suite of Marvel Superhero Slots. And if and when you are ready to play for real money, you might want to consider stretching your bankroll with a 100% Match bonus which was recently upgraded from £125 Free to £225 Free (Bonus claim code ICWCB). With hardly any game restrictions and a low 12x play-through requirement, this is certainly a bonus worth claiming. Read the OCS Inter Casino Review for more information.

Virgin Casino Launches Noah’s Ark Slot; More Weekly Promos

Friday, June 4th, 2010

noahsark2Virgin Casino, a gaming arm of Virgin Games, has announced the launch of a new video slot machine from WagerWorks. Noah’s Ark is the newest offering from this incredibly popular online casino. Noah’s Ark is a 30-payline video slot game that has a unique Split Symbols™ feature. The Split Symbols™ feature counts as two different symbols instead of just one. This offers a twist to the traditional video slot game where a winning payline can has over 10 matching symbols.

Warren Eloff, Product Manager at Virgin Casino, is quoted as saying, “WagerWorks have created yet another fantastic slot. Noah’s Ark is one of many great recent additions to our ever expanding casino, which offers games from a number of top developers. With the delightful animating animals that celebrate wins, the Split Symbols feature and free spin bonus, slot fans will love playing Noah’s Ark and enjoy winnings of epic proportions!” Virgin Casino has over 200 casino games and it is one of the most popular online casinos in the UK and throughout Europe.

Virgin Casino has a new slot game, which despite it’s name, isn’t just for the devout. Well, then again that all depends on what one is directing their devotion toward. If its spinning the slots, then by all mean, this new game is sure to please. Introducing “Noah’s Ark” video slot – a highly entertaining game with 30 paylines of action and a unique split feature that can create up to ten matching symbols per payline. Along with a free spin bonus, the action at Noah’s Ark is nothing short of biblical proportions.

If you need to see for yourself, just Visit Virgin Casino and open a free account to test Noah’s Ark out for free with unlimited fun money credits. Heck, while you’re there, be sure to check out their Recent Real Money Winners. You might even be inclined to take advantage of their standard 100% Match £100 free welcome bonus with 25x play-through on all slots, instant win games, Phantom Belle video poker and Ten Play Bonus Video Poker.

And if you are totally blown out of the water by Noah’s Ark (no pun intended), Virgin Casino is offering a special promotion from Monday, June 7th through Friday, June 11, 2010, in which they are giving away 20,000 in bonus cash. Simply wager a minimum of £175 on Noah’s Ark (as well as other select games) to earn a £5 bonus and a maximum of £3,500 to earn a £100 bonus (subject to wagering conditions) each day during the promotion period.

If you don’t want to wait until June 7th to get started playing with free money at Virgin Casino, and would rather pass on the 100% Match Bonus, Virgin is giving away a solid reload bonus right now. It’s worth 50% up to 75 Free and has a play-through of 20x. The bonus code is RELOAD, and while there are several game restrictions, this is a good offer for anyone who has played at Virgin before and still has an account in good standing.

With a name like Virgin Casino, one might just wonder if experience has got anything to do with running a successful online casino. And not that Virgin Casino hasn’t experienced the roll of the dice, the tossing of the roulette balls, obtaining a BJ on the felt tables (okay, I’m going a little bit overboard with the sexual innuendo’s aren’t I?) – the title of “Virgin” simply comes from parent company, Virgin – you know the one that has business ventures in everything from transportation to music.

More specifically, Virgin Casino is a branch of Virgin Games, which was launched in 2004 and also manages a poker room and online bingo room. One of the top UK facing online casinos in business today, Virgin Casino also has good “cred” due to their licensing of Wager Works online casino software. Wager Works is a subsidiary of the renowned land-based slot machine manufacturer, IGT, whose reputation precedes itself. Furthermore, Wager Works is a beacon for regulatory compliance, having received accreditations from Technical Systems Testing (TST), Gaming Associates and ongoing compliance with the UK white-listed Alderney Gambling Control Commission.

Our only complaint about Virgin Casino is their slight lack in transparency. For one, they do not provide links to monthly payout reports. Perhaps, with a branded name like “Virgin”, management thinks there is no need to be transparent with players. However, in this day-and-age of competitive and sometimes dangerous online gambling waters, it would serve Virgin Casino to be more forthright with the online gambling community. A good example would be 32Red. Better yet, just visit the OCS Best UK Casinos page for our top picks.<

New Online Casino Games:Microgaming June 2010 Launch:Soccer Safari Slot Machine

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

Now that's what I call a Soccer Safari. Look out World Cup 2010!

Now that's what I call a Soccer Safari. Look out World Cup 2010!

White label internet betting software developer, Microgaming, is starting the month of June off with a new release of online casino games, including two new video slots and a new Gold Series table game. The most timely of the bunch debuts just prior to the start of the 2010 World Cup being held in South Africa. Called “Soccer Safari”, this 5-reel, 30-payline multi-feature video slot is like a cross between Microgaming’s popular safari-themed Mega Moolah and the game of soccer.

Offering 25,000 in the base game, over twice as much with free spins and 12,000 in the bonus round, “Soccer Safari” is a pretty loaded slot machine. There are plenty of scatters, wilds (including an expanding wild), free spins and a bonuses, including a Gamble Feature to obtain quadruple winnings.

The primary wild symbol is the Soccer Safari logo, while the Zebra serves as an expanding wild, 1x multiplier and free spins trigger when it comes up on reels 1 and 5. In free spins mode, the Zebra will expand the 1st and 5th reel, which serve as held wild symbols, while the reverse takes place for the sixth free spin (reels 2 thru 4 are held, 1 & 5 are re-spun).

To get into the bonus round at “Soccer Safari”, it’s all about winning the match. In other words, it’s the Trophy symbols that will give you the opportunity to win up to 50x winnings. Specifically, it takes three or more Trophy scatter symbols anywhere on the reels to trigger the “Go for Goal” bonus round. Once inside, choose a team, then choose a player to take the penalty kick, which if getting passed the keeper, will award a 10x-50x multiplier. Nobody goes home empty-handed in the bonus round – even a missed penalty kick will deliver a 5x multiplier.

That said, if you would like to increase your own chances of not going home empty handed, it is advisable to take advantage of one of the many bonus offers available at Microgaming online casinos (not open to U.S. residents).

RTG Software Adds Two New Real Series Video Slots to Online Casino Games Portfolio

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

Leading  U.S. facing online casino software developer, Real Time Gaming, aka RTG, has launched two new video slots, boosting their portfolio of online casino games to well over 125.

Although still short of the 200 mark, it’s only a matter of time before RTG’s online casino games portfolio reaches that milestone and earns bragging rights in the company of giants like Microgaming. And not that RTG doesn’t have anything to brag about already. In fact, their current portfolio beats out Rival Gaming, Vegas Technology and certainly gives Playtech and Cryptologic a run for their money. The only one standing out from the rest of the pack is Microgaming. And, as mentioned, nobody comes close to the size of Microgaming’s online casino games portfolio.

On the heels of St. Patrick’s Day, “Lucky Day” is an Irish-themed 5-reel, 25-payline video slot as part of RTG’s “Real Series” of slot machines (now over 60 games in the series). Offering a random jackpot and a free spins feature with a massive 3x winnings on six free spins and a 2x multiplier on the seventh free spin, while permitting a free spin retrigger up to five times (resulting in 35 free spins), Lucky Day has the potential of living up to its name.

For all the hockey fans out there, not to mention fans of free spin bonuses and random jackpots, Hockey Hero saves the day. An entertaining game that probably would have proven popular during the 2010 Winter Olympics, Hockey Hero offers 25 paylines and a chance to be sent to the penalty box for free spin bonuses. Not necessarily what you want to do in a real hockey game, going to the penalty box means more money and a chance at winning a 10,000 coin jackpot.

For more information about Real Time Gaming and the highest rated RTG properties, visit the OCS RTG Casinos page.

Casino Club Adds Two New Online Slots to Download Platform

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Casino Club, which is the sole Boss Media powered online casino reviewed and listed here at Online Casino Suite, has just just announced the launch of two new online slot machines now available on the downloadable casino software platform. Titled “Twin Win” and “Age of Vikings”, the two new games promise to provide an equal share of entertainment and potential winnings.

Twin Win is actually based on a traditional UK fruit machine, and should certainly prove popular with British players who call Casino Club home. Not to be confused with IGT’s 5-reel, 15-line, Caribbean themed brick ‘n mortar casino slot machine, Casino Club’s Twin Win online slot features Joker symbols, Lucky Dice, Triple 7’s, and of course, all kinds of fruit. A ten payline game, Twin Win, offers a jackpot award and a “gamble” feature called the “Double-up”. The best feature of the game, however, is a Criss-cross bonus round (hit three bonus symbols from left to right), which awards 10,15 or 20 game rounds with greater odds of winning in the regular game.

As for Age of Vikings, this is a bonus video slot with not one, but two bonuses. The first bonus round – the Gold Bonus Game – is engaged when three Moneybag symbols are hit on the reels from left to right (only the three leftmost reels will hit), while three or more Viking Shield symbols from left to right on any paid reel will engage a Wheel of Fortune style bonus game. Outside of the bonus games, Age of Vikings offers big winnings with a Scatter symbol (the Viking Axe) that pays from 2x to 400x winnings.

As mentioned, both new slots are only available for download. The good news is that they can be played for free with a fun money account at Casino Club, not to mention the fact that downloading the software platform is quick, easy and highly recommended for the most stable connections to the server. The Flash platform offers just under twenty slot machines for instant play, while the download platform offers over twice as much, including a more comprehensive selection of table games. Read the OCS Casino Club Review for more information on this highly respected, Malta licensed online casino.

Million Dollar Mega Moolah Online Slot Pays out Big at Microgaming Casino

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

megamoolah_reelsMicrogaming Software’s Mega Moolah progressive slot has apparently dished out a rather large-sized win earlier today ($27,626) according to online gambling news portals. But then again, “large-sized jackpots” are pretty much the norm with Mega Moolah. Quite possibly Microgaming’s most popular online casino slot machine, there’s no doubt Mega Moolah lives up to it’s name, having dished out one of the largest millionaire jackpots in the history of online gambling. It was back in April of 2008 when Mega Moolah paid out a massive $5.5 million jackpot.

The $27K+ win today followed a $13,000 jackpot win earlier in the week, and was the largest win since last month’s impressive $45K+ win. The month prior was home to a $66,000 jackpot win.

megamoolah_progressivepayoutIn other words, expect Mega Moolah to pay out multi-thousand jackpots each month and accumulated monthly winnings in the hundreds of thousands.

What makes Mega Moolah popular with a wide range of bankrolls is the fact that it offers a four-tier progressive jackpot. The mini default jackpot starts off at $10, while the minor default jackpot kicks in at $100. The Major jackpot takes a huge leap from the minor, starting off at $10,000, while the default Mega progressive jackpot takes the cake at $1 Million. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see why Mega Moolah pays out such hefty numbers. And with a coin range from 0.01 to 0.05 and up to five coins per payline, it doesn’t take a huge bankroll to bet on all paylines, which is required to win the progressive jackpot.

megamoolah_freespinswildIn terms of playability, there are 5 reels, 25 paylines, and a Wheel of Fortune style bonus feature offering a top prize of at least $1 million. The wild, which doubles all winnings on substitutes (except for the Scatter), is the Lion symbol, while the Scatter itself (the weird looking, purple-faced creature) triggers 15 free spins with retriggers and 3x winnings throughout. Oh, and in case you are wondering, Mega Moolah is an African safari themed slot reminiscent of the Lion King. True to Microgaming, the graphics and sounds are stellar, making Mega Moolah just as entertaining as it is loaded.
