Gettin' Medieval with Microgaming's King Cashalot Casino Slot

Gettin' Medieval with Microgaming's King Cashalot Casino Slot

Following the recent half-a-million dollar jackpot win on Microgaming’s King Cashalot progressive video slot, I thought it fitting to give the good King Cashalot himself a closer look and all-out review. So, like I said, King Cashalot is Microgaming Software’s doing, and in fact, is one of Microgaming’s oldest progressive jackpot games. Launched in 2004/2005, King Cashalot has paid out some big wins over the years. The default jackpot is $100,000, and only gets bigger from there. It is not uncommon for the accumulated progressive jackpot to exceed $1 million. In fact, the largest win to date is $1.2 million and average jackpot win is $500,000.

As with all progressive slots, in order to be eligible for the big jackpot, a player must wager on on all paylines. Being that there are nine paylines, up to five coins per payline and a fixed coin value of $0.05, a single coin bet would cost just $0.45, while the max $2.25 wager, which is not bad at all for a modest sized bankroll, will get you even more winnings in pursuit of the big jackpot.

King Cashalot is a five reel slot themed after all the best that Medieval Times had to offer. If you consider torture, the Plague and having to wear burlap the best things to come from Medieval Times, well then, I’m sorry to say that King Cashalot will disappoint you. On the contrary, I’m talking about chivalry, feasts, sexy maidens and friendly dragons And as such, you get just that from the reel symbols. The jovial King himself is the wild and multiplier, the Jester is the Scatter, the Dragon serves as the bonus trigger, while various food items, and of course, the Queen and Maiden round out the list of colorful and sharp symbols.

All winning combinations with a single King serving as a wild will double payouts, while multiple Kings create winning combinations of their own. Five Kings is the ultimate, paying 15,000 credits on a single enabled payline and the maximum progressive jackpot if all five Kings hit on the ninth payline. Being a Scatter, the Jester does not need to land on an enabled payline in order to be in play. If two or more Jesters show on the screen a bonus credit is awarded, amounting up to 50 times the number of credits staked.

King Cashalot Treasure Bonus Round

King Cashalot Treasure Bonus Round

As for the bonus round, this is triggered when three Dragons hit on reels 2, 3 and 4. Called the Treasure Bonus, simply choose a treasure and it will reveal just how much extra you win (multiplied by the number of coins & paylines).

“Lord of the Rings” Trilogy to get Branded into Online Casino Slots

Lord of the Rings Video Slot Coming to a Microgaming Online Casino Near You!

Lord of the Rings Video Slot Coming to a Microgaming Online Casino Near You!

Microgaming’s online casino software platform has long been valued for the sheer number and diversity of casino games in its portfolio. Offering more titles than any other top-shelf (or low-shelf for that matter) casino software developer in business today, Microgaming has never been one to get overly creative with their games. And not that their slots have been anything short of creatively themed and highly innovative, Microgaming has simply ceased from going to the extent that two of its closest rivals – Cryptologic and Playtech – have gone in acquiring licensing rights to develop new slots titles named after popular titles in the entertainment world.

For example, Cryptologic has licensing rights for the Marvel Superhero Comics, DC Comics and Warner Brothers movie titles, including “Braveheart” and “Forrest Gump”, while Playtech more recently acquired the same rights to brand Marvels comic heroes in light of Cryptologic’s enormous success with this series. Granted, Microgaming has licensed the wildly popular Lara Croft Tomb Raider slot (Part I & II), and “Hitman” – both of which started off as movie titles and were consequently branded into popular video games – yet, Microgaming has never really ventured into the world of movies and comics. That is until now.

Microgaming has just announced they have signed a multi-year licensing agreement with Warner Brothers Digital Distribution to brand the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy into a slot machine series. If you’re thinking what I’m thinking, then yes, this is a HUGE deal. There is no denying the enormous worldwide popularity of the Lord of the Rings movies (not to mention the book). Having been nominated for 30 Academy Awards, and winning over half that, including the most esteemed of all – “Best Picture” – Lord of the Rings has an enormous fan base, 97% brand awareness and sky-high DVD rental revenues.

And let’s face it. It’s a fantastic story line perfect for online casino slots entertainment. And when I say fantastic, I mean to allude to the rich fantasy world in Lord of the Rings, which gives an added dimension of entertainment value that, quite frankly, many online slots are lacking. There are so many rich characters and storylines within this surreal fantasy world, there is huge potential to churn out a slot machine like no other – even blowing away Rival Gaming’s innovative I-slots.

I honestly truly hope that Microgaming doesn’t screw this up by slapping up some Lord of the Ring character symbols and a simplistic bonus round on the screen, but rather take their time and commit more resources to developing a top notch game with as much emphasis on the storyline and entertainment value as the gambling. Considering Microgaming’s track record, I have faith they will come through. They simply have to.

In the meantime, Microgaming continues to keep up their reputation as the most prolific online casino games developer today, launching a new set of three or more games each month (mainly slots). This month, the latest batch of new games include three new online video slots, including the timely “Winter Gold” (themed after the Winter Olympics) and Love Potion (lest you forget that Valentine’s Day is around the corner).

Jackpot Factory Casinos See Treasure Nile and Mega Moolah Paying Big

Jackot Factory Casinos

Big Slots Jackpots as usual at Jackpot Factory Casinos

For the Jackpot Factory group of online casinos, big jackpots are not uncommon. Yes, smarty pants, that’s why they call themselves the Jackpot Factory. Another reason why the Jackpot Factory focuses on the….well, jackpots…is simply because of their relationship with Microgaming Software and Microgaming’s vast progressive jackpot network.

Before I go on further, if you are from the United States and are wondering if the Jackpot Factory is right for you, save yourself some breath and energy and don’t bother. Jackpot Factory, and ALL Microgaming online casino licensees for that matter, are not open to U.S. citizens. Call it unfair. I call it bad governing courtesy of the Bush administration.

Anyhow, enough of that. You can bet that just as soon as the U.S. starts regulating online gambling, the Jackpot Factory will open it’s doors across the pond once again. So, make a mental note.

Now, where was I? Oh yes, big jackpots at the Jackpot Factory. In particular, it’s been the Mega Moolah and Treasure Nile video slots that have paid out the most considerable sums over the last week or so. Mega Moolah, alone, paid out nine large jackpot wins over the month of December at Jackpot Factory’s All Slots Casino, including a $10,00+ win on Christmas day for one lucky player. Mega Moolah, which has the potential to grow in the millions (having almost reached £5 million at one time), also dished out a rather large $70,000 jackpot to one player.

As for Treasure Nile, this is one slot machine that consistently pays out huge numbers, and is one of Microgaming’s oldest progressive jackpot slot games. It’s most recent newsworthy action generated over $179,000 in winnings for two players. One player walked away with over $66,000, while the other scored a massive $112,674 jackpot on Treasure Nile.

Microgaming Online Casino Video Slot Review: Tomb Raider

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Play Tomb Raider 2: Secret of the Sword at All Slots Casino

One of Microgaming Software’s most popular online casino slots to date is the Tomb Raider video slot. If that name sounds familiar, screen shots of the game and corresponding reel symbols will look even more familiar, for Microgaming’s “Tomb Raider” is exclusively licensed to be themed on the popular Tomb Raider video games, which in turn, was themed after the popular box office hit, feature film starring Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft.

As the video game goes, Tomb Raider follows the adventures of Lara Croft as she risks her life and precious, beautiful limbs trying to search for the elusive “idol”. To get an idea of the entertainment and action that accompanies game play, as well as the super hotness of Lara herself, there is an engaging opening movie trailer that can be viewed after downloading “Tomb Raider” at any Microgaming online casino.

The structure of “Tomb Raider” online video slot is five reels and fifteen paylines – your average sized video bonus slot. The stakes range is wide, allowing bets for as little as a penny and awarding up to 75,000 coins on a nine-coin wager. The most unique thing about this game is the bonus round, which is unique in the sense that it was the first online casino slot to award players bonus entry with a free spins feature.

tombraider02A wild symbol (Tomb Raider logo), Scatter Symbol (Lara Croft herself) and the elusive “Idol” symbol are your best friends on this game, for five wilds will hit the big jackpot payout, three or more Lara Croft’s activate the free spins feature with 3x winnings and three or more “Idol’s” get you into the bonus round, aka, the tomb.

In addition to the 10 free spins with triple payouts on three or more scatter symbols, initial winnings are increased with two or more Lara Croft symbol combos. Therefore, 2 Lara Croft’s pays double winnings, 3 Lara Croft’s pay 4x winnings, and five Lara Croft’s pays a massive 400x on the initial win. As for the Tomb Bonus Round, anywhere from three to five “idols” are to be chosen, paying out from $36 to $2,500 each.

As you can see, the payouts on “Tomb Raider” video slots are just as enticing as the theme of the game. Be sure to read over the full payout table and familiarize yourself with the symbols, paylines and winning combos before gambling with real stakes.
