Playing Casino Blackjack for Real Money…on Your iPhone

17 November 2010 by admin

There are a plethora of casino game apps out there for mobile devices. Every game is just about covered individually, and then there are all of the general casino games apps—think of those as an all-in-one package of casino game favorites. But none of these mobile apps allows players to play for real money.

Until now. Sort of.

Spin3 has developed a real money blackjack mobile app that is available through the Apple App Store, and can be played on iPhones, iPads, iPods and other i-devices, as I like to call them. Now the announcement made by Spin3 came as quite a surprise since Apple has been holding out against allowing real money casino game mobile apps to be sold in their app store. Apparently they are no longer holding out. Or they came to an agreement with Apple.

I think the latter is what happened because this real money blackjack app has a limited audience right now. It can only be played by residents of the United Kingdom and Ireland. To further limit the spread of this app, it will only work in conjunction with the online casino 32Red. But Spin3 says that limit with 32Red is only temporary and intend to make it available to other online casinos who work with Spin3 at a later date.

So here we are, the online casino industry is now being faced with the merging of online gambling for real money being done on the go using mobile devices. Granted, players could always access an online casino by going online on their phones or other mobile devices. But being able to play blackjack for real money without having to power an Internet browser and deal with potential slow uploading, players can log on to their real money blackjack app and start playing.

This is what the online casino industry is beginning to look at. This is why IGT is merging its online casino game developer subsidiary, WagerWorks, with its mobile app developer subsidiary—they are already looking to the future of mobile online gambling.

And if the future lies in creating mobile apps of casino games then that is what is going to happen. Only it seems that Spin3 beat IGT to the punch. Or they convinced Apple to allow the sale of a real money casino game app before IGT could.

I think that a real money blackjack app is a good place to start for real money mobile apps. Poker might be more popular of a casino game, but blackjack is a much better starter as it is easier to learn to play—at least I think so. And if the real money game is easier to learn and easier to play, the more potential to show Apple that there is a market for real money mobile apps. And that just might increase the possibility of seeing more mobile real money casino game apps.
