Foxwoods Development and Goodson Gaming Partner to Develop Unique Casino Game Show

9 November 2010 by Devon Chappell

Another land-based casino operator has it’s sights set on the lucrative online gambling market, and no, I’m not talking about Harrah’s Caesar’s Palace Online Casino. Indeed, Harrah’s has certainly been making the news headlines of late, being the most outspoken supporter of online gambling regulation in the United States and recently launching a European facing online casino (Quite a long journey, considering their initial stance against regulation).

foxwoods-developmentNow, not only is Harrah’s Interactive Entertainment in the company of similar likeness, they have some competition too. Successful brick ‘n mortar casino operator, Foxwoods Development Co., has recently announced they too will be pursuing a license or licenses to launch a fully loaded online casino in a yet-to-be-named gaming jurisdiction. Certainly familiar with one another, Foxwoods and Harrah’s recently took part in a joint deal to bring a casino to Philadelphia – both companies operating some of the most well known brick ‘n mortar casinos in the United States, albeit Foxwoods isn’t a Vegas player, so to speak.

goodsongamingAnd neither is Goodson Gaming, whom Foxwoods has entered into a venture partnership with, called Velocity Gaming. In fact, Goodson Gaming’s expertise is in the area of television shows – well, game shows to be exact. The company’s president, Jonathan Goodson is the same Goodson who produced the hit game shows The Price is Right and Family Feud. Doesn’t sound like your typical internet gaming partnership, does it? And that’s because this isn’t going to be your typical online casino….or at least, so it would appear to be.

According to Foxwoods Development President, Gary Armentrout, the partnership has manifested into a “unique business model combining a live TV game show with an internet gaming website”. Note I didn’t just say television show, I said television game show. Thus, I think we can rule out that this isn’t just another online poker tournament series. We’re talking Price is Right on Craps here, folks. Well, at least that’s how I envision it. Come to think of it, there’s already a dice-like craps game on the Price is Right. Full circle, full circle.

Anyhow, Armentrout did not elaborate nor go into details about the deal, other than the site offering online casino-type games and that both the television show and website would be cross-promoted to drive customers to both outlets. He also confirmed that Velocity Gaming is working out a deal to offer the unique gaming package in an undisclosed area of Europe, and that it would “in no way” operate or do business in the United States.

Goodson Gaming, which is overseen by Mr. Goodman and Mark Hutchinson of Gaming Solutions International, is providing all of the up-front capital for the project. In fact, Hutchinson was asked by Mr. Goodman, who is providing most of the financial backing, to put together the Velocity Gaming project. Hutchinson’s experience lies in the lottery industry – having helped produce several successful live lottery television shows along with Goodman. As for Foxwoods, they bring their highly valuable experience as a successful casino operator to the table.
