FairPlayUSA Gains Another for its Advisory Board

9 August 2011 by admin

FairPlayUSA is a new coalition based in Washington DC. They have a goal of making the foggy federal laws pertaining to online gambling and online casinos easier to understand; they also work in support of creating regulation for online poker while making clear definitions of what illegal online gambling is.

The FairPlayUSA coalition has an advisory board to help further its aims and to make lawmakers more aware of the facts about online casinos and online gambling while helping ordinary citizens better understand laws about online gambling. Currently the advisory board includes Tom Ridge, the former director of Homeland Security and Governor of Pennsylvania; Perry Aftab, an Internet safety expert; Greg Ramer, a professional poker player. It was announced that the FairPlayUSA advisory board has received a new member: Mike Sexton who is also a professional poker player.

Sexton is a strong addition to FairPlayUSA. “American should be able to play poker online in the privacy of their homes knowing that the games are safe and fair. FairPlayUSA is committed to ensuring a strict regulatory framework for online poker, and I am pleased to be a part of its advisory board,” he said.

But FairPlayUSA is just as pleased to have Sexton as he is to be on the advisory board. Marisa McNee is the executive director of FairPlayUSA. In regard to the addition of Sexton she said, “We are honored that Mike has agreed to join our Board of Advisors and help carry our message of the importance of bringing integrity and safety to online poker. As FairPlayUSA grows as an organization, our message of strict regulation, child and consumer protections, and support of law enforcement will continue to resonate with key policymakers.”

FairPlayUSA was formed last month. Their formation is just one more sign that there is momentum and effort to regulate online gambling and online casinos in the US.
