300 Shields Online Slots Promotion

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

One of Virgin Casino’s favorite ways to launch a new online slots game is to do it with a promotion. And their launch of 300 Shields is no different.

This five reel online slots game, which was created by Microgaming a few months back, carries a theme that was based on the popular movie of the same name which depicts the historic battle between 300 Spartan warriors and 10,000 Persian troops. Virgin Casino is powered by my multiple online casino software companies, although they do not have each developer’s full lineup of best online casino games. This means that Virgin Casino is capable of offering players games from Microgaming through their QuickFire platform, and 300 Shields is one of those Microgaming online slots games.

Players will be pleased to hear the 300 Shields launches today. To celebrate the launch of this new online slots game at Virgin Casino, they are offering players the chance to earn a bonus prize starting at £10 and worth a maximum of £650. The bonus prizes are awarded based on a tier system which determines prizes based on how much an online slots player wagers:

Tier 1: wager £500 minimum for a bonus of £10
Tier 2: wager £2,500 minimum for a bonus of £50
Tier 3: wager £5,000 minimum for a bonus of £100
Tier 4: wager £7,500 minimum for a bonus of £150
Tier 5: wager £10,000 minimum for a bonus of £220
Tier 6: wager £12,500 minimum for a bonus of £300
Tier 7: wager £15,000 minimum for a bonus of £360
Tier 8: wager £17,500 minimum for a bonus of £430
Tier 9: wager £20,000 minimum for a bonus of £500
Tier 10: wager £25,000 minimum for a bonus of £650

Players have from now until 23:59 on July 22nd to wager into one of the tiers. Not every single online slots game is eligible for this slots promotion. Players must wager on 300 Shields or one of the other 31 online slots games listed at Virgin Casino that are eligible for this slots promotion. All players who wager into one of the tiers will receive their bonuses by 5pm on July 25th.

Record Attendance for WSOP

Tuesday, June 21st, 2011

worldseriesofpokerWith the World Series of Poker well underway, the 42nd edition of the annual tournament is on pace for a record year. In terms of both number of contestants and prize money awarded, the world’s biggest poker tournament is headed for the biggest year in its history if the trend continues.

The World Series of Poker began on May 31 and the Main Event doesn’t take place until July 7. The tournament has 58 events, with 30 having been played so far. Through the first 30 events, the number of participants is up 11.7% from last year. A total of 33,173 poker players have participated in the events so far. The prize money from player buy-ins is also up, a 8.6% increase to $55.88 million through the first 30 events. The Main Event is the biggest in the tournament and normally attracts thousands of players and the largest buy-ins. With that still to come, most are predicting a record-setting year for the World Series of Poker.

Some have remarked that the popular poker tournament is having a record year despite the federal crackdown on online poker sites on Black Friday, Blue Monday and other days. However, you could also easily say that it is a big year because of the crackdown. With Americans having fewer options for playing poker online, attendance at the poker rooms of brick and mortar casinos has been up. It is easy to imagine players who normally participate in poker tournaments online for the first time going to the World Series of Poker to play in person.

If the tournament keeps at its current pace, it will set a record with 72,966 participants and over $187.1 million in prize money. Ty Stewart, executive director of WSOP, said that he is humbled by the incredible turnout and he “couldn’t be more excited to open the doors for the WSOP and put the focus back on the felt where it belongs.”

Jackpot Factory to Give Away iPad2s

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

Let’s look away from what is happening in the United States. We are not going to talk about Black Friday or Blue Monday or where the seized online gambling money went. Instead we are going to look at something fun and happy: an online casino group who is giving away a few iPad2s.

The online casino group that is offering the iPad2 give away is the Jackpot Factory Group, and it is being offered at four of their online casinos: All Slots Casino, All Jackpots Casino, Wild Jack Casino and First Web Casino. Entry into this give away is not hinged on playing any online casino games however. It is based on signing up with this Microgaming powered online casino group.

An iPad2 will be given away quarterly from the Jackpot Factory Group as a whole, not from each individual online casino. In order to be eligible, players must sign up at one of the four named online casinos and deposit $30; doing so will give the new player one ticket for the drawing. Players can have up to four tickets to their name, but it requires signing up and depositing at least $30 at each of the four online casinos. Then at the end of each quarter, a winner will drawn.

On the whole this is a rather forward way of increasing the membership of the Jackpot Groups online casinos. We here at would all like to have iPad2 s too, but as we live in the US we are not eligible. Remember that part about the Jackpot Factory online casinos being powered by Microgaming? Yes, that means that none of them except players from the US. It is just a Microgaming thing.

But if you do not live in the US then you are green-lighted to sign up and enter yourself into the drawing. Questions about the iPad2 giveaway can be directed to any of the customer support staffs of the four online casinos. The first drawing will take place on June 30th.

Slot Tournaments at Millionaire Casino

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

May is off to a pretty good start, unless you’re a terrorist. News broke late last night that U.S. Navy SEALs had killed Osama bin Laden in a raid in Pakistan. Though the violent death of a human being is normally a bad thing, most people on the planet are willing to make an exception in this case, so there have been celebrations, sighs of relief and for many, a sense of closure.

No online casino can top that news. All promotions and tournaments will only seem trivial. But if you want to take a break from spending all day watching the news and reading about the raid, you might want to play some casino games. If that’s the case, there are some good tournaments at Millionaire Casino.

Today is the start of this week’s Slottery tournament, which runs every Tuesday through Friday. The Slottery tournament has a $5 entry fee and a share of the pot is up for grabs. The Slottery this week is played on the Fire Hawk slot, which is a game with a Native American tribal theme.

Later in the month is the big Memorial Day eMailer tournament, which is a free tournament with a $7,500 prize pool. Until then, there are other tournaments to keep an eye on. Every Monday through Thursday, you can paly in the Head2Head blackjack tournament, which has a $5 entry fee, or the Jacks or Better Challenger video poker tournament. That tournament also has a $5 buy-in. There are also a number of daily slot tournaments that range from $1 to $3 to enter.

May’s Special Slots Tournaments at Go Casino

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

Not everyone thinks of May as being a big month in terms of holidays or special events that cause online casinos to create special online slots tournaments. But they would be wrong. This May is big when it comes to the special online slots tournaments. Four of the eight featured online slots tournaments this month are not regular tournaments.

First up is the online slots tournament going on right now. It is the May Kickoff tournament. Go Casino used to kickoff tournaments all the time but then suddenly stopped, giving way to only offering Weekend Madness tournaments. But now, at least for May, the monthly kickoff is back. Players can pay $6.99 for a $300 tournament balance to spin the reels of 5 Reel Wheel of Chance. The May Kickoff is already underway and runs until 10:30 pm on Friday, May 6th. So there is still time to try to spin your way to a piece of the $15,000 prize pool.

Next up is the Cinco de Mayo tournament, another holiday derived slots spree. This tournament is a one day only competition though, beginning at 9 am on May 5th and ending at 11:30 pm on the same day. Fittingly enough players will be playing this one on Vegas Technology’s La Cucaracha. To go along with the theme the entry fee into the Cinco de Mayo tournament is only $0.55, which gives players a $200 tournament balance to climb the leader board to win the largest portion of the pot prize pool.

Beginning just days after Cinco de Mayo is the Mothers Day Freeroll. As you can guess this one does not cost online slots players a dime to enter, giving them a $75 tournament balance to play with; but players can win a portion of the $25,000 prize pool though. This one is being played out on the Lucky Lady slots game. The Mothers Day Freeroll begins at 9 am on Sunday, May 8th (Mothers Day, mark your calendars) and runs through to 9 pm on Friday May 13th.

And speaking of Friday the 13th that brings us to the last special online slots tournament at Go Casino this month: The Friday the 13th tournament. Feeling lucky? This one is another that carries an unusual entry fee: $0.66 which will give a player a $200 tournament balance. As per the title this is a one day tournament beginning at 8 am and ending at 8 pm on the ‘dreaded’ day. This is another tournament that has players playing for the pot, spinning the reels of Monster Money, the most appropriate of the Vegas Technology line up.

All four of those special online slots tournaments are happening this month, sprinkled in amongst the regular Weekend Madness tournaments. The Weekend Madness tournaments have players paying a $10 entry fee for a $325 tournament balance to win a portion of the $30,000 prize pool. Just the small entry fees of the special tournaments at Go Casino alone make them worth it.

Grand Slam of Slots II Tournament at All Slots Casino

Visit the Promotions Page at All Slots to Join the Latest Free Qualifier!

If you haven’t signed up yet to take part in one of the largest online casino slots tournaments held all year, it’s still not too late (unless, of course, you’re a U.S. resident, which means you’re ineligible anyways!). But for just about everyone else, eCOGRA approved All Slots Casino is the place to be if you’re looking for great tournament action on the online slots and a shot at winning some substantial cash winnings.

Called the Gram Slam of Slots II, the popular weeklong UK slots tournament is scheduled to kick off May 27, 2011 and run through June 6th. While it’s always best to take part from the very beginning of a tournament, even if you can’t, you’re still encouraged to take part, as it’s not necessarily about how many bets you make, but rather, how much in winnings you procure overall. All it takes is one lucky spin of the reels, and you could find yourself at the top of the leaderboard just like that.

Grand Slam of Slots II is played on the popular Thunderstruck II video slot (using the latest in Microgaming’s innovative technology), guaranteeing over $290,000 in winnings paid out to 290 players and offering 243 ways to win on a single spin – a unique component to Microgaming slot machines, like Thunderstruck II. First place will walk away with $100,000, second place will nab $50,000, third place gets $25,000, and so on. And if you happen to be the lucky player to win the special jackpot prize, you’ll will walk away with $2.43 million in real gold bullion.

Offering you even more incentive to take part in Grand Slam of Slots II, All Slots has been giving away $25 gift card bonuses since the beginning of April, and will continue doing so through the month of May. Fifty winners will be selected daily over the course of the promotion period, and will also be given free entry into the Grand Slam of Slots II. To be eligible, simply deposit and play $75 or more over the course of seven days prior to the drawing day. Entry’s are unlimited, so the more you play, the better your chances of winning. There are also free and buy-in qualifying tournaments taking place at this very moment, so be sure to check out the Promotions Page at for details. While there, be sure to read up on their $5,000 welcome bonus.

Easter Online Slots Tournaments are Hopping in Your Casinos

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

Easter is becoming the next big holiday that online casinos celebrate with new online slots games and online slots tournaments. There are two biggies this month when it comes to Easter derived online slots tournaments, one with the Hambledon New Venture Group of online casinos and the other with the English Harbour Gaming Ventures group.

First let’s take a look at the Easter online slots tournament that is happening at the English Harbour Gaming online casinos VIP Slots and Slots Galore. The tournament is called the Great Egg Hunt, and it is a month long tournament.

The Hunt began back on April 1st and will continue through all of April, ending on May 1st at 12:01 am. Players need only pay the $10 entry fee when they register for this tournament for their shot at a piece of the $50,000 prize pool. That $50,000 is made up of $35,750 in cash and $14,250 in bonus money; the top prize is $25,000. The $10 entry fee gives players a starting tournament balance of $200; rebuys are another $10 each and recharge a player’s tournament balance with another $200 should they cross the low balance threshold.

The Easter online slots tournament that is happening in some of the Hambledon online casinos, such as Go Casino and Online Vegas, are playing host to the Countdown to Easter Freeroll.

As its name suggests this tournament does not cost anything to enter, and all players start with a $50 tournament balance. However rebuys are available for $4.99 each and will give a player $250 to their balance to keep spinning the reels to try to climb the leader board. And what is at the end of that leader board? Well, the top 39 players will receive a portion of the $25,000 Bonus Bucks prize pool. Bonus Bucks is the name applied to the bonus money at some of the Hambledon online casinos. The top prize in this freeroll online slots tournament is $1,000 of bonus money.

Now all of the online casinos are powered by Vegas Technology. And Vegas Technology does not have an Easter themed online slots game…yet. So in lieu of that both tournaments are using the Funky Chicken online slots game for their Easter tournaments.

Weekend Tournaments at Go Casino

Friday, April 8th, 2011

go-casino-logoThe weekend is almost here and that means you’ll have more free time because you won’t have to work. If you work for the U.S. government, you’ll have even more free time, if the government shuts down at midnight like expected. In either case, you might want to check out some of the casino tournaments going on this weekend at Go Casino. Of course, if you’re a government employee, make sure you’re spending your own money and not taxpayer money, since that will start yet another scandal.

This weekend Go Casino is running the $30,000 Guaranteed Weekend Madness. I bet you can guess the amount of the prize pool! But that’s getting ahead of ourselves. The tournament begins tonight, April 8, at 10:30 PM and ends on Monday, April 11, at 11:30 PM. The tournament has an entry fee of $10, which gets you a stake of 325 credits. If you run out of credits and want more, you can re-buy for the same amount. The prize pool, as you might imagine, is $30,000 in guaranteed casino credits. The tournament is being played on the Reel Deal slot.

If you’re a cheapskate…um, I mean if you’re frugal, then you might want to check out the Frugal Friday tournament as well. And in all honesty, being frugal is a good thing; with my paycheck I have to be very careful how I spend money. The Frugal Friday tournament has that name because it only costs $1.99 to join. The prize pool for the event is $1,500, which is pretty good when you consider the low entry fee. The Frugal Friday runs every Friday from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM. Today’s tournament is played on the Tarot Treasure game, which is an online slot with a tarot card theme.

If you’re not into slots, there are other tournaments available at Go Casino. There are video poker tournaments played on a variety of games. Running Saturday and Sunday is a tournament on Mega Multi Hand Deuces Wild, which has a $1.99 entry fee. There is also the Blackjack Pot Percentage tournament, which has a $0.99 entry fee.

To take part in any of the above tournaments, visit Go Casino. Before playing in a tournament, accepting any bonus or taking part in any casino promotion, make sure you know the terms and conditions as well as the rules of the promotion.

April Tournaments at Super Slots Casino

Monday, April 4th, 2011

super-slots-logoOne good thing about starting a new month is that it brings new casino tournaments with it. That means something new and exciting to take part in. I’m not sure if that offsets the bad things about starting a new month, such as rent or mortgage payments being due, but it certainly helps. As a gambling writer, is also gives me something to write about on a slow news day, such as today. For all of the above reasons, here is a rundown of the tournament action available at Super Slots Casino.

The big tournament this month is the Great Egg Hunt, which is a month-long slot tournament with an Easter theme. The tournament is already underway, but there is plenty of time to join. The buy-in for the tournament is $10, but most would consider it worth it for a chance to play for a $50,000 prize pool in guaranteed casino credits. The Great Egg Hunt tournament is played on the Funky Chicken slot.

Aside from that big tournament, the regular Slottery tournament is also going on right now. The Slottery takes place in four parts, with a different Slottery taking place each week. The current one runs from Monday, April 4 (that’s today) to Thursday, April 7. It is played on the La Cucaracha slot. Players pay a $5 entry fee to play for a share of the pot.

If slots aren’t your game of choice, there are other tournaments running right now at Super Slots Casino. Video poker fans can play in the Jacks or Better Challenger, which runs every Monday through Thursday. The tournament has a buy-in of $5 and the prize pool is made up of the pot. The tournament is played on the Jacks or Better video poker game.

For blackjack players, every Monday through Thursday you can pay in the Head2Head tournament. This tournament, which is played on the US Blackjack game, has one player compete directly against another player, rather than competing against the dealer. This tournament has a $5 entry fee and the a share of the pot is up for grabs.

In addition to those tournaments, there are also daily slot tournaments, such as the Pay for the Pot tournament, which has a $3 entry fee and the pot as the prize pool. There is also the Daily Free Slots tournament, which is a freeroll tournament with a $300 prize pool.

To take part in any of the above tournaments, visit Super Slots Casino. Be sure to read the rules and terms and conditions before taking part in any casino tournament.

Tsunami Tournament that US Citizens Can Play In

Friday, March 25th, 2011

One of the Microgaming online casino groups put together an online slots tournament to benefit the victims of the tsunami in Japan. Unfortunately it was one that US citizens could not participate in. The Hambledon New Venture Group of online casinos is also hosting their own tsunami relief online slots tournament to raise money for victims of the March 11th Japan earthquake and subsequent tsunami. But this online slots tournament is only running until 10 pm tonight, Friday, March 25th.

Unfortunately none of the Hambledon New Venture Group online casinos, which include Go Casino and Online Vegas in their number, did a lot of advertising when they decided to host the tournament. Despite the lack of notice to the greater online casino community, the Tsunami Relief Pot Percentage Tournament has 1,375 participants at the time of this writing.

Online slots players pay a $1 entry fee and receive $125 in tournament credits to play with. For the tournament, the Hambledon New Venture Group selected Dr. Love as the online slots game from their Vegas Technology line up for the tsunami relief charity tournament to be to be played out on.

The Tsunami Relief Pot Percentage Charity Tournament began back on Wednesday, March 23rd at 10 am. It is unfortunate that the online casino community was not given more notice or that the tournament was not more widely advertised. Given the fact that Americans have military family and friends in Japan, and the overall humanitarian effort, I think the Hambledon New Venture Group online casinos could have drawn a much larger group of participants and raised even more money.
