Bodog Leaving U.S. Market

27 July 2011 by admin

bodog-girls-issue-2-2008-0The U.S. federal government’s attack on online gambling websites has claimed another victim. It has been reported that Bodog, a leading provider of online casino games, sports betting, online poker and more, is planning to leave the U.S. market at the end of the year.

Bodog currently has a license with the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group (MMGG), but that agreement expires on December 31, 2011. The license allows Bodog to operate in North America with their European domain, When the license expires on December 31, it is reported that Bodog will be strategically exiting the U.S. market and American players will no longer be able to log onto the site.

Bodog wants to avoid the problems that have befallen PokerStars, Absolute Poker and Full Tilt Poker. With the federal government going after online gambling companies that do business in the U.S., Bodog wants to avoid and problems as well as any negative perception from being associated with those indicted companies.

In better news for the company, Bodog recently announced that they have become the first bookmaker to be approved by the UK Gambling Commission. That will allow them to operate in the United Kingdom under full compliance of the new regulations.

That means nothing to American customers, though. Any Americans who are frequent betters or players at Bodog should contact customer support if they have any questions. If you have an outstanding balance, we recommend you withdraw the money before December 31 to avoid any delays or difficulties recovering your money.

*The Bodog ad included in this article should seem ironic now, since Bodog is no longer all-in in North America after apparently reaching their limit.
