Best Casino Slots Review: Mr. Maggo’s Adventure and Crazy Jewelry 3D Slots

2 February 2011 by Devon Chappell

This is a two-part article on the entertainment factor of online gambling. Click Here to read the first part. Otherwise, let’s talk about the entertainment factor of slot machines – Specifically, Rival Gaming Software’s 3D slots machines.

These days, there are online slots that incorporate highly entertaining story lines with graphics so advanced you will sometimes forget that you are even playing a slot machine at all. LOL, maybe that’s what the online casinos want, right? But seriously, some the best online casino slots, like Rival Gaming’s I-Slots and their recently launched 3D slots, are like going to the movies.

While many players and affiliates will agree that Rival Gaming has some serious issues still needing to be worked out with their main white label casino licensee, independently managed Sloto Cash, Black Diamond and Box24 Casino are tops in our books. See the OCS Sloto Cash Casino Review for more information.

Me personally, I like to win just as much as the next slots player, however, I like to believe that I have a realistic view of spinning the reels. In other words, I never expect to walk away a winner. I certainly hope to win. But I know it’s all about luck. Granted, you should pay attention to the payout percentages being returned on the slots at your online casino of choice; But other than that, assuming the average payouts are within reason, I like to play the slots that offer the most entertainment.

Rival Gaming certainly isn’t the only software provider with entertaining slots. Microgaming and Playtech offer some stellar games as well. But if you’re from the good ‘ol U.S. of A., then Rival is your best option, in my humble opinion. I have talked plenty about Rival’s I-slots. In fact, I think I am on record of saying they are my personal favorite. If you’ve never played them before, they are basically your typical video slot, but with funny animated story lines that unfold via “episodes” as you make it to bonus rounds. “As the Reels Turn”, for example, is a spin on the soap opera, “As the World Turns”, and opens with a hysterical episode about a guy drifting through life with nobody to talk to but his pet piranha.

As for Rival’s 3D slot machines, these represents the next developmental stage of “virtual gaming” if you ask me. Notice I didn’t say virtual “reality”. While I do think the day will come in which you can put on some goggles and gloves to virtually create the actual experience of pulling the slot arm down (even though today’s video slots just make you press a button), Rival’s 3D slots are more about the animated virtual experience. Like I said, it’s like going to the movies.

However, these 3D slots don’t require you to wear 3D glasses. Nor will they make you feel dizzy or give you a headache. Think of this kind of 3D as “popping” more out from the screen, but not necessarily invading your personal space. With that said, check out the trailer of Rival’s Mr. Magoo’s Adventure 3D slot, followed by a review and video for “Crazy Jewelry”.

How’s that for a slot machine teaser? I told you it’s like going to the movies. Granted, I could have done without the “movie guy” voiceover (I’d much rather prefer Mr. Magoo or a British woman), but it’s all in the fun.

Mr. Magoo’s Adventure: Based on the classic character, Mr. Magoo’s Adventure is set amidst the tropics, with Mr. Magoo himself serving as host. 5 reels and 20 paylines in structure, the name of the game is to land the the Two Birds symbols, which serve as an expanding wild (taking over the entire reel to help form additional wins on other paylines). The cave entrance serves as the scatter, triggering from 10 to 25 free spins in a bonus round game. During the bonus round, Dr. Magoo serves as a retriggering scatter, and three additional symbols (tunnel, statue and dark cave) will pay from 5x to 500x the bet. Wager up to five coins per payline with as little as $0.01 or up to a $5 per coin, with a top payout of 5000 coins triggered when all five Mr. Magoo symbols land on the same payline. As for Mr. Magoo saying “Cheeky Monkey’s”, that’s priceless.

Now, let’s take a peek at Crazy Jewelry. You’re going to love this!

Crazy Jewelry: One of the more unique story lines, Crazy Jewelry is centered around a security guard (“no ordinary man”) who watches over a jewelry store set in a small, historic Italian village. The soundscape is phenomenal, and there are plenty of laughs to be had playing this slot. The actual face of the slot is the store itself – a pretty slick touch for a slot. The security camera serves as an expanding wild (on the third reel), which if hit, plays a funny animation (the first few times at least 🙂 ). Wagers range from $0.01 to $500 per spin (five coins per line), with a top payout of $12,500. A bonus round is triggered when hitting three of the white-bearded Jeweler symbols. When that happens, players have the opportunity to make four selections from the jeweler’s palate of gems. Real gems are worth more, while fake one’s are less. How can you tell? You can’t, it’s pure luck!

Check back tomorrow for a review of Rival Gaming’s most recently launched 3D slots. Dog Casher, French Cuisine and The McMurphy’s are the latest titles, with professional quality movie teaser’s just released in January.
