August 3, 2008 -
If you've been around the online poker and casino gambling
scene long enough, you would know that last year's inaugural
World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) was anything but
predictable. In what turned out to be the youngest final
table ever in the history of the WSOP itself, it will be
interesting to see what happens this year.
That's right folks - it's time for the
WSOPE once again...err, almost. The tournament is scheduled to go down from
September 19, through October 2, 2008, and will take place at London Leicester
Square's newest casino club, Casino at the Empire. Four bracelet events are to
be hosted, culminating in a £1,500
No-Limit Texas Hold'em event.
Tournament organizers are expecting the
final event to bring out some heavy hitting players. Not only are the new
generation of youngin's and online poker Afficiannado's going to be in
attendance, you can bet the "old" veterans will be in strong force to defend
their "old school" honor. It is also expected that all nine final table
finishers at the 39th World Series of Poker recently held in Las Vegas at
Harrah's Casino, will be in on the action.
In a way, I guess you could say the next
greatest achievement in the world of professional poker would be to win both
the final event WSOP and the WSOPE back-to-back. A fantastic accomplishment to
say the least, it is certainly possible. Even making the final table at both
tournaments is a brag-worthy honor.
As for the lineup of bracelet event, they
go down as follows:
-
Event 1 is the aforementioned three-day
No Limit Hold'em tournament with a buy-in of £1,500. It kicks off on September
19.
-
Event 2 is a three-day H.O.R.S.E.
tournament with a buy-in of £2,500 and takes place on September 22.
-
Event 3 is a three-day Pot Limit Omaha
tourny with a £5,000 buy-in, taking place on September 24.
-
Event 4 is the Championship No-Limit
Hold'em tournament covering five days. It has a buy-in of £10,000 and kicks of
September 27.
