Phil Hellmuth Jr. the Poker Brat is as bratty as they come. And while
Hellmuth's nickname is just that - a nickname - I vote that it should be changed
to the "Poker Dick". If you follow the World Series of Poker, you will recall
that prior to Hellmuth's elimination, the star poker player was penalized for
berating another player. In true Hellmuth style, the brat threw out a number of
insults, calling his opponent a stupid idiot among other things.
And while everybody knows that Hellmuth is just trying to jinx his opponents
and get inside their heads, there should be a line as to where and how that
psychological manipulation takes place. I personally agree with a recent article
posted on the Poker Listing's blog (a popular online poker portal), that
summarized Hellmuth should be playing with more class and begged the question
whether or not the brat is doing more to help or hurt the game of poker.
What's even more of a shame, is the fact that WSOP Commissioner, Jeffrey
Pollack, let Hellmuth off the hook for his recent tirade. If it had been any
other player, that would not have happened. The fact that Hellmuth is a star
name is the only reason the penalty was removed. What were you thinking Pollack?
Do you have kids of your own? That's how spoiled brat's become even more bratty
and spoiled.
Apparently, he is now a product of sorts. Showing up to the WSOP, Hellmuth
was sporting something like three hot chicks on each arm as he waltzed into the
casino in his leather duds, while showing off for the camera and relishing in
his celebrity "power". Honestly, I think Hellmuth should cool it down. I
understand why he is doing what he is doing, but is it really necessary? There's
no doubt that Hellmuth is an amazing poker player. But there are many other
amazing poker players who don't rely on abusing other players to win. It's
simply childish and uncalled for. It's time to show your class Phil Hellmuth Jr.
