June 2, 2008 - Okay, so I don't know what rock
I've been hiding under, but I have to admit I just recently
got my first peek at the poker player Liv Boeree. Why hasn't
anybody told me about this chick..err...Liv before now? O My
God, she is so hot! And to top it off, she knows how to play
some serious poker. Seriously folks, this girl should be a
model. I don't know how old she is, but she's definitely old
enough....to play poker. You have my respect Ms. Boeree.
So, I was doing my blog reading rounds and I came across
this story about Annie Duke taking some new student under
her wing, which happens to be none other than Ms. Boeree.
Apparently, Liv and Annie connected with each other at the
UltimatePoker.com showdown television series in late 2005.
Since that time, Liv has racked up some major wins,
including several top 10 finishes in major Texas Hold'em
tournaments in London.
In February of this year, Absolute Poker got wind of this
smart beauty and signed her to have a presence on their
poker site. On a side note, this is probably why I had not
heard of her until now. I'm not a big fan of Absolute ever
since that huge cheating scandal went down and Kahnawake
Gaming Commission gave them a little slap on the wrist. And
as much as I would love to engage in some live chat with Liv,
I still don't think I'll be hanging out at Absolute.
But now that Annie Duke has teamed up with Liv, you can
bet we'll be seeing a lot more of her other than at Absolute
Poker. Just last month, Liv beat out fifty-three other
players to win the Ladbrokes European Ladies Championship
and a $30,000 prize. Duke is now training Liv (who is a
former astrophysics student), in preparation for the World
Series of Poker Championship. The goal is to get her a WSOP
bracelet, and Duke certainly thinks Liv has what it takes.
Well, I also certainly think Liv has what it takes. I think
I'm in love.
