of the Month: So I
guess the question that's on the minds of many people
these days (or should I say online gambling industry folk)
is whether or not online gambling is going to take a hit
as a result of the U.S. financial crisis, which is
beginning to make a little global crisis of it own.
Apparently, thus far all is business as usual. Online
casino gambling is going steady, while poker playing is
doing stronger than ever. Of course, this could all change
overnight. Considering the state of the economy, it
wouldn't be far off to conclude that the online gambling
industry is bracing itself for the worse. Just take a look
at Las Vegas, where resort revenue has fallen
tremendously. But here's the interesting part - and which
might foretell the future times of online gambling - Las
Vegas revenue is not down because of fewer casino bets.
It's the hotel, restaurant and living accommodations
that's biting Vegas. And considering that online casinos
don't even have that to offer, times may prove that people
will continue to place their bets online no matter how bad
the economy gets. Don't get me wrong - I'm not encouraging
any desperate behavior in desperate times. But the thing
about responsible gamblers, is that they know how to sock
their money away - to save it for the casino on a rainy
day. Did I just hear thunder? |
