of the Month: This is
for anybody who was ever weary of getting ripped off at an
online casino: Did you know that you have a much greater
chance of getting scammed from an online auction that you
do at a rogue online casino? First, let me just say that
by no means am I saying you should go off and gamble at
any old online casino offering a too-good-to-be-true bonus
or gaming package. There certainly are crooks and
unethical people out there waiting to take your money (or
at least not pay you when you hit a big jackpot), and you
should always know what to look for when opening a real
money online gambling account (If you don't know, please
see our online casino reviews page). That said, you better
be even more careful if you're thinking about
participating in an online auction. According to the
Federal Bureau of Investigation's National White Collar
Crime Center (you got me why they call it that), nearly
36% of the 206, 884 all complaints made to the FBI center
were regarding online auction fraud. Overall, the total
losses in revenue were at $240 million, which was a 20%
increase from the previous year. And on a side note, guys
if you think we're still smarter than women, perhaps you
should consider the fact that 57.6% of complainants were
men, not to mention over 75% of fraud perpetrators were
men. |
