of the Month: Warren
Cloud - the controversial owner of a large online casino
network - died this last weekend from a heart attack on a
boat off the coast of Ibiza, Spain. Going by the aliases
of "Don Fortune", "Oliver Curran" and "Richard Brooks",
Cloud certainly left a mark on the online gambling
industry, although to many gamblers it was fraught with
controversy. Cloud is known for managing the notorious
Crystalisle Casino Group, which managed several online
casinos, including Crystal Palace, Lucky Pyramid, Golden
Nile Casino, Vegas Frontier, Royal Circus and High Rollers
Lounge - all at the heart of several player disputes.
Cloud initially entered the online gambling industry
nearly a decade ago with an online casino powered by an
unknown Korean software company. After leaving many
players unpaid, Cloud relocated his business and started
anew with a network of online casinos powered by Real Time
Gaming (RTG). Although RTG gave his gambling business some
credibility, Cloud continued his track record of
ill-managed customer relations. I personally did not know
Warren Cloud, nor did I ever place a bet at one of his
online casinos (there were too many player disputes that
put me on guard). I am not sure what the future holds for
his network of online casinos, but the real concern should
be what the future holds for his widow and child. I hope
they are to be well looked after with the aid of Warren
Cloud's fortune made from the online gambling industry. |
