April 24, 2009 - Yours Truly, aka
Suitee, recently came across a press release announcing an
online viral marketing campaign for none other than a well
known brick 'n mortar casino. This particular casino is
located in the land of the Gold rush....California that
is...you know, Texas Tea, swimming pools, movie stars (give
yerself a nice pat on the back...or a slap on the butt -
whichever floats your boat - if you know what TV sitcom
Apparently, this viral marketing ploy - or as the
press release likes to say, "integrated online viral
networking campaign", is a first for a California
casino. Pray do tell what am I talking about? Good
question - I don't even know. But wait.....wait for
it....wait for it....there it is (top left corner pocket
of the cerebellum).
Enough, let's have it!!!!!! Barona Resort and Casino, which is a
top-rated Indian casino located in beautiful San Diego
(I love how I just said San Diego is "beautiful" and yet
I've never been there), announced a video competition in
which the winner will win $5,000, while an additional
$17,000 in cash prizes will be shared by finalists and
even the online voters themselves - which could be you!
(Oh boy, I've got my announcer's cap on...here I go again).
The competition actually sounds pretty fun.
And there's no cost to win some free money. Basically, all you have to do is make a video up to two
minutes long that demonstrates what it is you love most
about casinos. Of course, the whole idea is to help
spread awareness about Barona Casino, so don't go
shooting footage of the Mirage if you know what I
mean. You are gonna' have to be creative on this one.
And let's face it - there's plenty of creative range
when it comes to the casino experience.
The video doesn't even have to be about gambling. You
could celebrate the entertainment, food, atmosphere,
amenities, etc. You get the picture. My only advice is
to do some research about Barona Resort and Casino
before you come up with a storyline. That said, if you
want more information on the contest rules, and would
eventually like to submit a video, or even vote for
videos, go to the "Events and Promotions" page at
Barona.com. Submissions are being accepted until May 29,
2009, and the winner/finalists will be announced in late
