July 24, 2008 - I don't know about you, but
whenever I've roamed the casino floors in Las Vegas, I've
never really seriously considered playing Baccarat. For one,
the room always looks pretty empty to me (aside for a
handful of hot cocktail waitresses, which I must say is hard
to pass up!). And two, there's that stigma of "big money"
and "high class" that pervades the game of Baccarat. Or is
that just in my mind?
In the past of course, Baccarat was the rich man's
game. But I have to tell you, not everybody that I've
seen sticking it out in the Baccarat "parlor" has been
dressed to the T's and sipping cognac. I know that still
doesn't rule out anyone not being rich (in fact, there's
a good chance the guy wearing jeans and plastic-framed
glasses is the wealthiest one), but it does show that
Baccarat is not as hoity-toity as it once was.
When it comes to the Macau gambling scene, things
just wouldn't be the same without the casino game of
Baccarat. I'm not quite sure why it is such a popular
game in Asia, but the fact remains that Baccarat
accounts for the greatest portion of casino gambling
revenue in Macau. The largest factor contributing to the
massive growth in Macau has been higher VIP Baccarat
revenues, which have risen by more than 50% since last
year, not to mention the grand opening's of some very
fine casinos, like the Sands' Venetian Macau.
If it were not for VIP Baccarat revenues, Macau could
have very well seen a larger decline in
quarter-to-quarter revenue (the first decline since
2005). And although Macau's growth may be settling down
for the time being, there appears to be no stopping
Baccarat. If you stop to think about it, Baccarat's
popularity in Asia makes sense. There's a strong
economy, lots of business and businessmen, and a culture
that loves to gamble. Big money and a love for gambling
certainly make for the right Baccarat ingredients.
But seriously folks - Don't let that deter you from
playing Baccarat in the online casino. That's where I've
personally begotten my experience playing this simple
and laid back casino table game. On the internet, there
is no more stigma about being a high roller. You can
even have a go at mini-baccarat. And if you thought you
can't enjoy the social aspect of Baccarat by playing it
from home, most online casinos have the capability to
allow you to create private tables which you can play
with friends and acquaintances.
