No matter how hard Euro/Asia-focused online casino software developer,
Playtech, tries to keep up with rival software developer,
Cryptologic, the
innovative pioneer comes out with something else to marvel about (pun
intended). Just at the same time that Playtech announced it will be branding
its own version of Marvel Comic's superhero characters into video slots,
Cryptologic, turned around with a big announcement of their own - citing an
exclusive multi-year licensing agreement with Warner Brothers and DC
Comics.
Considering the enormous success of Cryptologic's Marvel slots, I suppose
you could say it was inevitable that Cryptologic would attempt to brand that
"other" group of internationally popular comic superhero's. Of course, I am
referring to DC Comic's timeless characters, like Batman and Robin,
Superman, Cat Woman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman. The timing just seems
as if it couldn't be better for the Ireland-based software developer. While
things may play out well for Playtech and their own Marvel slots, the one
thing they can't say they have now is a license to brand DC Comics
characters.
No offense to Playtech, for like I said, they might very well develop an
even better Marvel slot than Cryptologic. There is no denying that, to date,
Playtech has come up with some of the best graphics and playing solutions
you will find at a top-rated online casino. And who knows what else Playtech
has under their sleeve? They have certainly never been one to back down from
raising the bar and challenging their competitors to do the same.
Cryptologic's new CEO, Brian Hadfield, said in a press release that he
expects the Marvel and DC Comic games to "drive revenue growth for years to
come." He also made it clear that Cryptologic does not intend to end their
branding escapades here. Notwithstanding their innovations in account
security, gaming graphics and user-friendliness, branding games is one thing
that Cryptologic does best. And as the online gaming community eagerly
awaits the release of the DC Superhero slots, Cryptologic will assuredly be
devising yet another branding campaign. Just you wait.
