If there was an
award for the online casino software developer who made the
most news headlines, it would no doubt be
Cryptologic
- at least if we're talking about most recent times.
Everybody who's familiar with the top non U.S. facing software giants,
aka Cryptologic, Microgaming and Playtech, knows these guys
equally share the headlines. Depending on a new game
release, online casino licensee or software upgrade,
everybody's time under the sun varies. And lately, it's all
Cryptologic.
Now, I know what some of you are thinking. Just
because something makes it into the headlines, doesn't
necessarily make it "good" news. And while we could
debate until the cows come home on whether or not "any
news is good news", I have to admit that making the
headlines is not always a good thing. But in the case of
Cryptologic, let's just say they have every reason to be
in good spirits.
Without going into too much detail about the
"restructuring" that has taken place at this
Ireland-based company, since this is the casino games
blog and all, I suppose it stands to reckon that
Cryptologic has been making some progress on the games
front. Sure, they are no Microgaming in terms of the
frequency of their casino game releases, but what makes
Cryptologic stand out from the rest of the pack is the
uniqueness of their games. Err, not entirely unique.
Adept at branding land-based titles into online slot
machines, at least they are unique in the world of
online gambling.
Heard of the Marvel Comics Superhero Slots? That's
Cryptologic. What about the slot version of Jewel Quest,
Cubis and Bejeweled? Yet again, none other than
Cryptologic. And even though other software developers
are trying to rebrand some of these games according to
their own taste (Playtech being the most recent by
procuring a licensing agreement to brand the Marvel
superheroes as well), Cryptologic leads the way in this
regard.
And more than ever before, Cryptologic has been
making headlines with some exciting new licensing
agreements. If you follow the news section here at
Online Casino Suite, you probably caught wind of these
already. Does DC Comics/Warner Brothers and Paramount
Pictures ring a bell? If not, well then, let me ring it
for you. Cryptologic will be bringing DC Comics' most
popular characters - Batman, Superman, Cat Woman, Green
Lantern and more - to life as online slot machines. An
excellent accompaniment to the Marvel series no doubt.
And even more exciting, in my opinion, are new titles
based on Paramount Pictures most popular flicks. These
include Forrest Gump, Braveheart,
Ferris Buellers Day Off, and Beverly Hills Cop.
Forrest Gump and Eddie Murphy in a slot machine! Now
that's some entertainment.
So, here's a toast to Cryptologic for giving one of
the biggest money guzzlers in the online casino (err,
that would be the slot machine) a truly great
entertainment value despite the ridiculous Casinos Edge.
Not quite as entertaining as the innovative I-Slots
available at
Rival Casinos, Cryptologic's selection of
one-armed bandits are nonetheless capable of providing
great entertainment and huge jackpots.
